This one is pretty cool because I had the privilege of playing a few games against this guy during my college years and in beer league. Daniel Kim @1danielkim -
1. Daniel was a huge, Korean American power forward who immigrated to Los Angeles at the age of 3.
2. He was captivated by Gretzky’s shiny aluminum stick as a kid and quickly became addicted to hockey. While several @lakings were role models, Daniel looked up to fellow Korean heritage players Jim Paek and Richard Park the most.
3. Daniel played for the @bay_city_bombers in the @wshlhockey_ and was invited to try out for the WCHL Long Beach Ice Dogs. While he was cut in the first two camps, the Ice Dogs eventually extended an offer when another player was serving a suspension. In 2002-03, Daniel made his pro debut and played 16 games for the Ice Dogs and notched 19 PIMs.
4. Thereafter, Daniel played parts of 3 seasons with the @echlhockey @bakersfieldcondors, totaling 19 PIMs in 7 games. While playing for the Condors, Daniel also had a day job as the organization’s hockey operations manager.
5. Since retiring from pro, Daniel has been involved in minor hockey at various levels the past 15 years. He is currently a coach in Southern California for the Junior Kings and the South Bay Stingrays.
