Zach Okabe @zachokabe -
1. Zach is a skilled, playmaking Japanese, Australian, and Canadian forward (he holds 3 citizenships). Born in Fukuoka, Japan, he frequently relocated due to his father’s employment as a plastics designer.
2. Zach grew up in Australia, where he dominated youth hockey. He captained the State National Team and reportedly scored 150 goals in a single season.
3. After relocating from Australia to the U.S., and then to Canada, Zach attended the @edgeschoolhockey and @shawniganhockey prep academies. His junior career commenced in 2017-18 for the @officialajhl @gpstorm notching 57 points in 58 games and capturing Rookie of the Year honors. Zach followed up with another monster season for the Storm, scoring 58 points in 60 games in 2018-19.
4. Over the past 3 seasons, Zach has starred for @scsumhockey, where he currently has 38 points in 72 career @ncaaicehockey games. His number choice of “14” has a backstory to it. His father played club hockey for the Huskies, and when Zach was a kid, he had a Huskies jersey on his bedroom wall and wrote “#14 Huskies” on his beloved SCSU cap!
